CompanyOliver Steer Interior Design was founded in November 2005. Entering the fourth year in business, the company now has a strong and dedicated team working out of our Southport store and Oliver’s attention to detail and ability to interpret his client’s personal requirements remain paramount. Past and present projects include the refurbishment of a number of country houses in Lancashire, Cheshire, Wirral and Dorset together with properties in the Belgravia District of London. More recently commissions have included a large stately home and a boutique clothing store. In the autumn of 2007, Oliver’s work was included in the regional publication ‘Highlife Magazine’ and December saw his first monthly interior design column in the national publication ‘House & Home Ideas Magazine’. In November 2007 the Company welcomed Joanna Jones to the team as Personal Assistant to Oliver Steer and July 2008 saw the appointment of Claire Lea as Senior Design Assistant. Both joined the team with a considerable degree of experience and a passion for design. January 2009 saw the opening our first retail store in England located on Liverpool Road in Birkdale, Southport. Our extensive ranges of pattern books are available to the public including access to our well established design service. As a destination store we retail all aspects of furniture including lighting, upholstered items, painted furniture etc together with a wide variety of gifts and stylistic touches for every home. As part of our opening we are delighted to welcome Eileen Gorry to our sales team. Eileen has extensive experience in fashion retail and looks forward to giving all our customers any help and advice while in our store. Claire Lea has been appointed to the position of Showroom Manager to oversee the Store. Claire will use her background in the interior retail sector to ensure our store runs smoothly. Claire also remains Oliver’s Senior Design Assistant and continues to work closely with Oliver on our bespoke projects. January also saw the appointment of Oliver into the British Interior Design Association. ‘The British Interior Design Association (BIDA) was formed in 2002 through the amalgamation of the highly respected Interior Decorators & Designers Association (originally set up in 1966) and the globally recognised International Interior Design Association (UK Chapter). This newly emerged organisation continues to promote high standards throughout the profession, encouraging and fostering proven design ability. The BIDA is a Member of IFI, the International Federation of Interior Architects & Designers’. ‘The Association defines Interior Designers as persons qualified by education, experience and recognised skills who identify, research and creatively solve problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment. They perform services relevant to interior spaces including programming, design analysis, space planning, aesthetics, and inspection of work on site, using specialised knowledge of interior construction, building systems and components, building regulations, equipment, materials and furnishings, and prepare drawings and documents relative to the design of the interior space (Courtesy of the BIDA website www.bida.org) |
